  I came to Shorty's after church. It was packed due to the after church crowd. We was greeted right away and sat soon after. The waitress was effective and friendly. I ordered the brisket platter with sweet potato and coleslaw. The food came out quickly. I like the quality of food and it was clean. I do have one complaint that there was flies flying around and kept bothering us so if they can take care of that it was be great.

  So this place is supposedly known for its Brisket.
  Well since I was born in Texas and my family and I have been eating brisket for 20+ years I can safely and confidently say Shorty's brisket is not Texas style and thus not enjoyable for us.
  
  Now we did get a full rack of ribs and those were very good, the Mac and cheese was rich and creamy, the fried okra tasty but should have been much more crunchy, the key lime pie was very good as good or better than some we have had in Key West.

  Just left the restaurant and there was a roach in my food. My daughters were appalled and the waitress called the manager immediately. He then proceeded to try to remove the roach while we still were at the table and said he'll give us 50% off. I was even more appalled at the nonchalant attitude of the manager and his attempt to dismiss the issue with a 50% accommodation. I told him I will not pay for my food and its disgusting. I will never go here again. I posted pictures of the roach on google.
